Public service through conference, refresher courses and advisory services to teacher Training Colleges, Ministries of Education and Voluntary Agencies engaged in educational work.
Initially there were two full-time courses:
- The Postgraduate Certificate in Education – graduate in Arts and Science who went mainly into Secondary School teaching.
- The Associateship Diploma in Education for experienced non-graduate teachers who went back to important positions such as Primary School Headmasters/Headmistress, tutors in Teacher Training Colleges, and Primary School supervisors. In 1960 a third course was introduced, namely.
- The Diploma in Child Study – designed for research workers and tutors in child psychology. This course was suspended in 1963.
