ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

Introduction

The International Centre for Educational Evaluation (ICEE), Institute of Education offers both full-time and part-time postgraduate programmes.

Full-Time Programmes

The ICEE, Institute of Education, has since the 1977/78 session, offered the following full-time postgraduate degree programmes:

  1.  M.Ed., which lasts 3 semesters;
  2.  M.Phil., which lasts 4 semesters; and
  3. Ph.D., which lasts 6 semesters.

M.Ed. (Full-time) Programme

The M.Ed. Programme in Educational Evaluation is a 3 – semester programme designed to provide training in practical skills of educational evaluation as well as basic understanding of research techniques. It is suitable for the practitioners in curriculum development centres, research and planning units of governments’ ministries, testing units and examining bodies. More details about the regulations and courses for the programme are provided in chapters 3 and 4 respectively.

M.Phil.Programme

The M.Phil. programme in Educational Evaluation is designed to provide in-depth training in the theory and practice of Educational Evaluation and develop research competence in the field of Educational Evaluation. It is suitable for those who will undertake teaching at the tertiary level. More information on the regulations and courses at 700 level for the M.Phil. programme may be obtained from chapters 3 and 4 respectively.

Ph.D. Programme

The Ph.D. Programme in Educational Evaluation is designed to train high level research manpower capable of handling all aspects of work in Educational Evaluation. It is suitable for those who will direct research and evaluation in tertiary institutions, research and planning units of government ministries, test and measurement units, examining bodies and such bodies that engage in educational enterprises. Regulations and courses for the Ph.D. programme have been provided in chapters 3 and 4 respectively.

The content and scope of the Part-Time M.Ed. in Educational Evaluation is equivalent to the Full-Time M.Ed. programme. It lasts for 2 years. As for the M.Ed. programme in Curriculum Development, it is currently suspended.
